IFK Täby's hockey section was formed as early as 1949 and in 2008 Täby HC became an autonomous association. The association has mainly focused on children and youth activities and has grown to become one of Stockholm's most successful clubs at youth level with several gold medals in the Stockholm Hockey Cup and a solid reputation throughout Sweden.

In 2010, Täby HC was appointed as a model association by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association within the framework of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association's "Youth Academy" initiative. Based on these foundations, the association works to ensure that children and young people have a meaningful and fun leisure time in ice hockey.
