Basketball has been established in Helsingborg since the mid-50s and has been organized in various forms (IFK Helsingborg, Pantrarna, Helsingborg Pearls, Öresundskraft Basket, Helsingborg Basket). When Helsingborg BK went bankrupt, a restart was made in the form of the association Helsingborg Basketbollklubb. The club's women's and men's teams are now in division 2, and it also has a large and successful children's and youth activities. 

HBBK's mission is to offer everyone, regardless of age, gender or ethnic background, an opportunity for sporting and personal development.
