We support the CCC Children's Center in Lviv, Ukraine

The war in Ukraine has now been going on for several years. Families who were already living in poverty before the outbreak of war have found it even more difficult. In the city of Lviv, Läkarmissionen has worked closely with a center for vulnerable children for many years. Here, the children are given food, time to do their homework and help to process their experiences from the war. And not least, they get to play away their worries and fears for a while. The center distributes food packages consisting of rice, oil, canned food and hygiene items. It's a way to help families who are struggling to get food for the day and to ensure that children don't go to sleep hungry. During the summer holidays, the center becomes even more important. When schools close, many children lose a safe place in their daily lives. At the center, they have a sanctuary filled with community, play and cooked food, something that many cannot count on at home.

Sudan - The world's largest humanitarian crisis

It is now more than two years since the outbreak of the horrific war in Sudan, a country that has been severely affected by violence and humanitarian crisis. Since the fighting began, the situation in Sudan has deteriorated significantly. Twelve million people have been displaced within the country's borders and over 3.5 million have fled to already fragile neighboring countries such as South Sudan, Chad, the Central African Republic and Ethiopia. More than twice that number, 26 million people, are in need of urgent emergency assistance and famine has been confirmed in five regions.

Läkarmissionen is leading all vital WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) work in Sudan in partnership with UNICEF. Working in the majority of provinces to reach the most vulnerable, over the past two years it has drilled and rehabilitated 357 wells and provided clean water to more than 524,000 people. In addition, Läkarmissionen works with protection and prevention efforts against the increasing sexual violence resulting from the conflict, both in Sudan and in the neighboring countries of Chad and South Sudan. In response to the acute famine in the country, we are carrying out life-saving operations, including the distribution of basic foodstuffs, cereals and vegetable seeds - with a particular focus on children and women in the most vulnerable areas.
